Ever heard the song “Walking On Sunshine” by Katrina and the Waves? I love that song, and to me that song has a lot of meaning.

“I used to think maybe you loved me now baby I’m sure

And I just cant wait till the day when you knock on my door

Now everytime I go for the mailbox, gotta hold myself down

Cos I just wait till you write me you’re coming around”

I love getting mail, no I’m not talking about E-Mail but snail mail. The feeling of opening an envelope and awaiting to read whats inside… especially when it comes from someone like my love. I remember getting the first letter (after he left) I was a mixture of smiles and tears of joy (literally) for the rest of the day. Just knowing that he thinks of me despite his extremely busy schedule makes me smile, and makes me feel that warm tingly feeling inside. Ever since then whenever I get a letter in the mail from him I kid you not I start singing the song.

“I’m walking on sunshine wooah!”

I value greatly the work that the post office does. Without them I don’t know how life would be like. They are the men and women that close the gaps of miles that stand in between two lovers. They bring us close although far away, and the sight of the post by the house makes me extremely happy. Thank you great people from the post office, THANK YOU for all that you, just know you bring me smiles with every letter you bring my way, especially from my sweetheart.

Smile, walk with me on sunshine! Come on!

I rarely have music posts but then I figured, why not? I listen to music on a daily basis, music is a part of who I am. I think everyone can relate to at least one song, or have one song we like to listen to. I personally am more of a lyrics person and if the lyrics are meaningful or have in somewhat something that relates to me its a song I will more than likely listen to again and again.

“Pain throws your heart to the ground, love turns the whole thing around”

Many times we’ve all had those days or phases when life just seems to like pushing us around. But it has happened (to me) that although I may have bad days or phases in life when even the smallest thing turns my frowns upside down. For example, a simple smile from someone I love is sure to make me smile. The action of a hug, or a few words of kindness can make a big difference.

“No it wont all go the way it should, but I know the heart of life is good”

My favorite line in the movie, can’t ring anymore truer than that. We all plan things, we make plans in our minds of what we would like our life to be. Sadly, and also thankfully (yes, thankfully) not everything turns out the way we plan it to be. Why thankfully? Think about it, would you have learned what you have from bad experiences if you hadn’t experienced them? Would you be equally thankful for what you have and value the instances where your plans have come out the way you wanted them if all your plans happened the way you wanted them to? I’m not saying we need to suffer to value life, but sometimes that’s really what makes us appreciate what we have.

“You know it’s nothing new, bad news never had good timing”

Sometimes is that flat tire on your way to your final exam, sometimes its the pluming that needs to get fixed when you just wasted all your money. Whatever it might be, we’ve all gone through this at one point or another, we just have to learn to roll with the punches of life. Its not about giving up, its about getting up whenever we are pushed down by the ironies of life.

Smile, because “… the heart of life is good.”

Another holiday! I actually found out this holiday existed last year. I know, some might think its another Hallmark and Candy and basically another “Time for Business” day but if you think about it it’s actually quite nice. Friendship Day might sound like a Middle of the Year Extension to Valentines Day.

“Don’t walk in front of me,
I may not follow.
Don’t walk behind me,
I may not lead.
Walk beside me and
be my friend.” – Albert Camus

For those that don’t know (and I know many who don’t) Friendship day is celebrated on the first Sunday of August, and as the name might give away it is a day to celebrate your friends. A lot of people spend time with their friends, some give gifts. Basically its a day to let your friends know how much they mean to you (We all have that friend that’s always there for us). Although you can (and would be nice) to do this in any other day of the year, the cool this is that not a lot of people know about this holiday. Why is it it “cool”? Because it can come to your friends as a surprise! You can let them know it’s a holiday too.

It’s nice to tell your friends that you value their friendship. Perhaps with a song, a letter, a card (E-Card), maybe a gift, a treat, even just saying it!

Ah what better way to finish this post on Friendship Day than with a song!

Smile, because you are someone’s friend.
